Journal 6

Journal 6:  At your internship, what are some of your strengths and weaknesses? Are there specific skills that are required to do your job? Have you had to learn any new skills?  What do you contribute to your internship?  What are some difficulties you’ve had?

Strength and Weaknesses, well, I would say that being tall is a strength. I’m very useful because while they need me to reach high places and put things on high places such as toys, food, and other various dog supplies. I can still be a helpful person in other ways. Like taking out the trash, re-stocking cans and walking dogs. Some of my weaknesses may be that sometimes I’m a little too energetic and sometimes that gets on people’s nerves, mainly my co-workers. As far as skills go, I would have to say that having good people skills is good. Also being able to talk to customers, lightening up the mood, and being able to help people purchase stuff while sometimes also getting them to buy a little extra if they need it or not. Some things(difficulties) that have gotten in my way before are customers. I am talking about rude, mean, and obnoxious people that come into the store. I hate when that happens. I talk to them as casually as I would with nice costumers.

Journal 5: Describe the responsibilities of one person at your internship.  What is his/her job title and job description?  Does he/she do only the jobs outlined in the job description?  If not, what else does he/she do?

Mike is a groomer, that inclines that he also washes dogs, brushes dogs, dries dogs and gives them (so manly specifically dogs). That is his specialty he was hired and gets paid to groom dogs and only dogs, but he can also be a useful person if you need advise or just someone to talk to. In particular,  he usually grooms terriers and other smallish dogs. He takes his job very seriously and personally. Though that does not mean that he is a serious person and is a very laid back person who may or may not get irritated easily(depending on that person). Even though groomer is his only job at my internship,  it does not mean that he has no other notable skills. He is a black belt, he is trained in using the nunchucks and he is also a culinary artist. He is also a husband and the father of three girls. He is one of the coolest persons I have met. That is it I suppose. That is all I really got. Though to be a groomer yourself takes patience, fearlessness, precision, dedication, and gentle hands.

Journal 4: If you were the boss at your internship, how would you do things differently?  What would you keep the same? Would you choose to have a job in the field that you have been experiencing as an intern?  Why or why not?

If I were the boss of my internship, I would not change a thing. Everything at my internship is running extremely smoothly. I do not have a single complaint. I wish that it could never change and that it would stay the way it is. Also, I hope someday that when I have a job and have to pay bills and get a job and other stuff that adults have to do, it will kind of be similar to this. Where all hard working contributing co workers are nice to you and sometimes the customers are nice to you, at least usually. Where I can wake up and guess that I will have a good day and probably be correct. So that my life could fun, interesting and I would not end up regretting the decision of working in that field. So that every day would not be a curse but a blessing and I would extremely be grateful to receive it.

Journal 3: How have you dealt with frustration at your internship?  For instance, were there days that you did not want to be at internship, or days when you had difficulties with you supervisor, co-workers, or even difficulties with the tasks that were assigned to you?

I don’t really get frustrated at my internship. There is nothing for me to get over annoyed or really uneasy about, everything is all good at my internship. My co-workers don’t give me too many complicated things that I can’t handle. Usually the tasks that I receive are within my capable limits, and even if they’re not, I do them without difficulties. Also, I don’t complain with the work that is put in front of me. I am gracious for the opportunity that has been bestowed onto me. Everybody is fair and nice towards me, and they treat me with respect and dignity (sometimes). They talk to me as if I am an equal. They have a sense of humor and usually laugh at my jokes. Though sometimes they are the ones making me laugh and sometimes that alone makes the moment or joke funny. They also say I’m always doing a great job and they say they really appreciate me.

Journal 2:What do you do on a typical day at your internship? What are some things that you have done at your internship that you have never done before?  Be specific, and include a description of who assigned you the tasks, and who explained them to you.

A typical day for me is always an extraordinary one though sometimes when I’m not feeling like doing anything it can become one of the worst days of my life. Though usually while I am in my internship I feel safe, warm and fuzzy(cozy). Every time I go there I learn something new, sometimes I learn nothing at all that would make me a better pet owner or a better person as I go through life. After that there’s really only one thing else I want to mention. That is the perks such as if I do an exceptionally good at what ever I am doing I get chipotle. It’s the best. They also call me the best. For all that I do throughout the evening helping, supporting and doing what they tell me to do. After her there’s really only one person I want to mention. My friend Mike he is one of the groomers and he’s great at what he does. He also teaches me some of the grooming techniques and lets me do certain things like wash and brush the dogs. Also, sometimes he lets me just sit with the dogs and usually care for them if it’s their first time or they get really scared. Though in general, just being able to work there gives off a warm and cozy feeling of safety and security like I am in a safe place.
