Final Reflection

Instructions:

Please take some time to reflect on, and answer, the following questions.

Name: Shavar Clark
Site: Doggy Style Supervisor: Krista

SECTION 1.

Do you feel your work contributed to the organization and community?  Explain.

Yes I feel that it has contributed because lots of people have dogs and without Doggy Style the dog’s owners would have to go far away to get their dogs taken care of.

Rate yourself in the following areas: (1=poor, 2=fair, 3=acceptable, 4=good, and 5=Great!), and comment on why you chose that rating:

Attitude 1 2 3 4 5 (interested in learning new things)
Sometimes I go to my internship and I don’t feel like going but I’m always ready to work
Cooperation 1 2 3 4 5 (helpful, pleasant)
I am always ready to help someone from my internship
Dependability 1 2 3 4 5 (arrival on time, attendance)
I haven't always been the most reliable person on attendance

What insights have you gained about the profession that you’ve been interning with?

I now know how to take care of animals in a better way and I know a little something about animals in general.

SECTION 2.

What were three things that you learned to do differently from the time that you first started at your internship until its end?

1. I learned that for different breeds they need different brushing techniques.

2. I learned that dogs do have an opinion in the foods that they eat.

3. I learned that I can make friends with anyone or anything

Were there any prior skills or experiences that you used in the internship? For example if you were working at a school and you had baby-sat before, or if you were working at a radio station and you have a strong interest in music. Please explain.

No, not really. I learned all the skills that I now supposed to learn from that place.

Were you satisfied with your work on the tasks that you were given? Please explain.

Yeah, I found them to be fair and completely capable with my ability.

Did the internship meet your personal expectations?

Sure, everything I thought it was going to be turned out how I thought it would

List your expectations and which ones were or were not met and why.

It would be small
Friendly people
Lots of animals

Would you like a career in the field of your internship?
Explain your answer.
Sure,  I wouldn’t mind having the same career as my internship in fact. I think it would be a great place to work as I get older. It would be great because I like animals and most of the time I can say they like me.

How did the internship improve your skills or abilities to get along with adults? How about your abilities to get along in professional situations?
I feel that I can deal with situations in a more fast and practical way. I feel that I can talk and handle many people in different ways, in different environments.

Journal 7:  After having spoken to other students about their internships, are there any that sound interesting to you?  How are they different from your internship?  How are they the same?

After speaking with my fellow classmates. I can confidently say that my internship is the best(for me). One of my friend’s internships is at a newspaper place, and she said that at that place she edits newspapers and maybe sometimes writes comic strips. My other friend works at a clothes store that sounds incredibly boring. At my internship I meet different people everyday. I get to work with animals and I learn different ways on how to take care of my animals if I every get any. I now know far more different dog type breeds than before I started working there. I have a great respect for dog owners, because to have a dog you kind of have to have a lot of money too you and your pet.
